Powershop plans for homes

Residential Powershop plans are available for electricity connections (plus gas in New South Wales and Victoria), offering transparent Powershop electricity rates and appealing extras such as solar power and carbon-neutral options.

The offers available vary depending on the state and distribution network you live in, so make sure you check the latest Powershop rates and compare energy plans with multiple energy providers in your state before you make a switch.

What is Carbon-Neutral Energy?

Australia’s energy comes from multiple sources, including coal and gas-powered stations. These energy-powered stations can increase the amount of greenhouse gases in the environment as opposed to wind farms, solar farms and hydropower, which produce renewable energy. This renewable energy is not only environmentally friendly but also low-cost and more efficient. This can contribute to global warming and climate change. Carbon-neutral energy helps to reduce greenhouse gases. Powershop’s 100% carbon-neutral plan curbs carbon emissions by buying certifications and offsets that aim to emit less greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Powershop also works with projects that help local communities, biodiversity, and habitat preservation. They also work to meet the criteria of independent carbon credit standards.  If you want to know more about Powershop for your home or business, keep reading!

GreenPower plans

Powershop offers residential and business customers the option to purchase GreenPower to minimise the impact of their energy plan on the environment.

GreenPower works by surrendering additional RECs (Renewable Energy Certificates), above the minimum amount required by the Renewable Energy Target. One REC represents one MWh of electricity generated by a GreenPower-accredited renewable energy source.

Making your energy plans a GreenPower plan helps to drive growth in Australia’s renewable energy sector and encourage investment and promotion of clean energy.

You can purchase GreenPower by buying a Powershop energy PowerPack, either online through your account or on the Powershop app. Once purchased, Powershop will surrender RECs on your behalf to match the amount of energy in your PowerPack.

GreenPower for business

You can support GreenPower through your business by purchasing GreenPower PowerPacks. If 10% or more of your annual electricity usage is through GreenPower, then you will become eligible to use the GreenPower logo on your marketing materials to promote your commitment to a renewable future.

If 50% or more of your electricity usage is through GreenPower, you can list your business on the government’s GreenPower website and receive a GreenPower promotional pack to promote your support to your customers.

If you meet the minimum eligibility requirements, go to the GreenPower website to apply for the GreenPower logo and benefits.

Powershop energy review

Powershop reviews, as with all companies, receive both positive and negative comments. Customers enjoy having 100% carbon-neutral plans, the expansion of the gas offering and friendly customer service. Some things that customers do not like include the purchase of the company by Shell, the limited number of plans and billing issues.

Powershop App

With the Powershop app, you can monitor your energy usage and compare it with other days, the cost of electricity in a day, and how many kilowatt hours you use. You can also monitor your gas usage by utilising the app. The Powershop app also offers insights into your energy usage month to month. Monthly insights are helpful if you want to compare how seasons affect your energy usage. You can also access rewards and maximise your savings. The app works with your smart meter to show you when you could be wasting energy, how much energy you’ve used and how much solar power you have generated. You can also manage your account and purchase PowerPacks to control your energy bills fully.

Payment Options

Powershop offers payment using your preferred payment method (PPM). You can sign up using your preferred debit or credit card. You also opt to set up automatic payment.

Billing

Billing is monthly for electricity plans, bimonthly in Victoria, and quarterly in NSW for gas plans. The bills also show the Powerpacks customers purchased in the month. You can opt for automatic billing from your Powerpack if there is an outstanding amount. You can access billing options through the Powershop desktop or the Powershop app.

Powershop Move-ins

When you inform us about your relocation, kindly provide us with your move-in date. We strive to have your electricity up and running on the day, although keep in mind that the connection may take place at any point during the day. If you require the power to be connected by a specific time, it is advisable to request the connection by day. Please bear in mind that we are unable to schedule connections on holidays or weekends.

In Victoria, where most properties are equipped with meters, we may be able to connect your power on the same day. Nevertheless, giving us advance notice will assist in ensuring a process. For properties with meters or those necessitating a connection, same-day service might not be feasible.

For clients in New South Wales, please give us two business days’ notice to arrange your power connection.

If you are moving residences, streamline your transition by linking your energy supply with Powershop. Powershop offers electricity connections on business days if you contact it before noon.

Victoria: Contact Powershop before 4 p.m. for an electricity connection for meters on the business day.

New South Wales and South Australia: Contact Powershop before 2 p.m. on the business day for an electricity connection.

Powershop also provides gas connections in New South Wales.

Queensland: Please contact Powershop before noon for an electricity connection on the business day.

To ensure a connection, kindly assist us with the following;

  1. Power Status: If the power is currently off at your property, make sure to switch it off so we can connect your power. If you don’t have access yet please contact your real estate agent to request them to turn off the switch. Once you move in remember to turn it
  2. Access to Meter: If your meter is located indoors or behind gates, doors, or cabinets, please notify us beforehand. Difficulty accessing the meter could potentially delay your connection.
  3. Long-Term Disconnection: If your property has been disconnected for more than 12 months, kindly inform us. Provide a Certificate of Electrical Safety signed by an electrician.

Should you have any questions or require assistance, feel free to get in touch with Powershop at 1800 462 668 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. AEDT.
